The Alaska Court System offers a monthly class on Understanding the Basics of Public Benefits.  Click HERE to register.  It is the 4th Tuesday at 12 noon each month.

Social Security Administration 

The SSA has updated it’s online portals and website substantially.  You can apply online, change things like direct deposits and more.  Be sure you are on a legitimate SSA site with ssa.gov.  There are also a number of instructional booklets like understanding SSI or what it means to be a representative payee.

Division of Public Assistance

You can apply for many of their programs online such as Medicaid, Adult Public Assistance, Senior Care Benefits or SNAP benefits or obtain paper applications.
